Teen gamer in Virginia said to be involved in college bomb threats in multiple states


A teenage gamer in Virginia is claimed to be concerned within the latest spate of bomb threats at schools and universities within the tri-state space, regulation enforcement sources acquainted with the investigation informed NBC Information.

It was not instantly clear which particular threats the 14-year-old was concerned in, however there have been scares in latest weeks at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut; Cornell College in Ithaca, New York; Brown College in Windfall, Rhode Island; and Columbia University and NYU in New York Metropolis.

Every incident has led to constructing evacuations and campus alerts despatched to college students, college and workers, and every was later deemed secure.

Individually, authorities stated a number of “on-line individuals working on the Discord chat platform” have been allegedly concerned in swatting incidents in Los Angeles in August and September, and the people in that group have been linked to 30 different bomb threats and swatting incidents, in response to officers.

The suspects vary in age from 13 to 16 years previous, with one of many teenagers allegedly concerned dwelling in New York Metropolis, authorities stated. Different suspects are from Harford County, Maryland, and Medina County, Ohio, in addition to a teen in Cyprus.
