California sues Tesla, alleging ‘pervasive’ racism at Fremont factory

The state of California has filed a lawsuit against Tesla over allegations the company has operated a “racially segregated workplace” at its factory near San Francisco.

The agency found evidence that the automaker's Fremont factory segregates the workplace based on race.

Kevin Kish, the director of DFEH, said in a statement that African American employees were exposed to racial slurs, with one employee admitting to having been harassed up to 100 times a day.

Kish said that employees who belong to minorities are subjected to discrimination and racial slurs, and they get unfair pay,

Too many job assignments, unfair discipline and promotions are also conducted from them as compared to them, thus creating a toxic work environment.

Tesla responded to the lawsuit in a blog post, calling it unfair and unproductive. The company has written that it opposes all forms of discrimination and harassment.
