NASA’s DART Mission May Deform a Mini-Moon

spacecraft is on its way to a binary asteroid system, Didymos, to crash into one tiny asteroid to test out a deflection method.

the spacecraft may deform the mini-moon that could make it almost unrecognizable.

the new kinetic impactor of NASA would collide with the Dimorphos asteroid at a speed of 15 mph.

On the other hand, various space experts also proposed another method of keeping the planet safe from asteroids

The European Space Agency (ESA) is asl planning a follow-up mission to the pair of space rocks with its Hera mission

It is scheduled to launch in 2024, and it will rendezvous with Didymos by 2026 to study the impact crater left by DART,

Didymos was discovered in 1996. Since then, it has been observed many times by astronomers.
